Wagtail

Beginning to get quite desperate, nothing but birds to shoot. Almost no events or concerts, all is cancelled. Almost all, at least there will be a few Walpurgis Night celebrations to visit although they're of the smaller kind. After all, events aren't allowed to have more than 50 attendees these days. Today though it's yet another bird, a white wagtail this time.

Pretty in pink

Back to lousy weather in this neck of the woods so I'm diving deep into the archive to dig out a japanese cherry tree in spring just to remind me (and you) what spring looks like when the sun makes an appearance.

Flight

Dove into the image archive this morning to find a bird brain for my daily bird post at Facebook and came up with a heron in flight.

Prairie Crocus

Yesterday the first little excursion of the year got done and I visited a private garden which I will return to often as it provides with a cornucopia of beautiful florals to shoot. Among other flowers there were a large number of varities of prairie crocus. Yes, that is the actual American name for them.

Spring is arriving little by little, the pilewort or as they're known on the other side of the puddle called The Atlantic, fig buttercup, are in full bloom.

One for the birds

I am getting bored out of my skull here. With all events and concerts being cancelled due to the corona pandemic there's very little to shoot except for flowers and birds.

Challenge Day 5

Fifth day of the photo challenge at Facebook. For 7 days publish a black and white photo each day with scenes from the world around us, everyday views so to speak, with explanations and also each day challenge a friend to do the same.

Today I chose to challenge a long time friend IRL, Eric Savey.

Challenge Day 3

Third day of the photo challenge at Facebook. For 7 days publish a black and white photo each day with scenes from the world around us, everyday views so to speak, with explanations and also each day challenge a friend to do the same.

Today I chose one of the many concert photographers among my friends, Karolina Vohnsen.

Challenge Day 2

Second day of the photo challenge at Facebook. For 7 days publish a black and white photo each day with scenes from the world around us, everyday views so to speak, with explanations and also each day challenge a friend to do the same.

I have just one problem with this challenge, who to challenge myself. There are so many I would like to invite and challenge and can pick only 7. Anywho, today I chose the renowned photographer Ulf Stjernbo just to see what he would come up with.

Challenge Day 1

I got challenged on Facebook and decided to accept the challenge. The challenge was to for 7 days publish a black and white photo each day with scenes from the world around us, everyday views so to speak, with explanations and also each day challenge a friend to do the same.

Day 1's photo is from when the neighboring property was renovated the other year.

Pussy

Nature is amazing being able to in just days go from a state of suspended animation to full vibrant life. One of the first wake up is the pussy willow.

Dry

Even though spring is arriving one can still find a lot of last years dry leftovers, what I like to label Seasons End.

Countryside

With absolutely no events or concerts to shoot what so ever at least there are some nice views in the countryside to aim the lens at.

More fun

English names are more fun... Pussy Willow...

Star of Betlehem

Shooting nature is educational to say the least. If nothing else I get to learn the English names of a bunch of flowers and animals. This one has the really nice name of "Yellow Star-of-Betlehem" in English which is far from the rather boring Swedish name "vårlök" that translates into "spring bulb".

Morning has broken

Morning has broken. Being up at the crack of dawn you do get to enjoy some spectatular views.

Feathered

Beginning to feel kind of a withdrawal with no concerts or other events happening for me to shoot, all there is left these days are birds and other things nature. Here's another birdbrain that kept me company this morning.

Anemone

Few things say spring more than the wood anemone. Imagine entire carpets beneath the trees of these little beauties making the forest glow with a promise of warmer weather coming.

Movement

This weeks theme at Fototräffen is Movement, here's one of my contributions...

Takeoff

Migrants are all over the place these days, yesterday I got to shoot a couple of them when Ichabod Crane and his missus were taking off in Sleepy Hollow...

Finally

It has been a long wait, but finally nature is coming to life and is about to explode into a multitude of colors.

Pages

It has become a waiting game of sorts with the pandemic causing society to come to a screeching halt and there's literally nothing but nature left to shoot, I have updated as much as I possibly can in my Facebook pages as well. I'll be climbing the walls before long without something new and interesting to aim the camera at and the archive has been blessed with more house sparrows than the willow outside.

Leftovers

With the ongoing pandemic just about everything is cancelled and society has come to a screeching halt, there's not much to shoot when it comes to events and such. Basically all that is left is nature but even there things are slow as it still is a little cold for it to explode into life and one can shoot only so many frames of the same objects. The other day though I found some last years leftovers.

Every morning these days when I go out for a smoke I have a lot of company by house sparrows tweeting their hearts out. This I could easily get used to.
