Rebellious

First batch of enlargements for the coming solo exhibition, my first solo ever, arrived today. After asking all followers and readers what kind of photos they woud like to see if they were to visit the exhibition there were two kinds clearly in the lead, black & white and Childhood's End, and the latter actually goes into the first as those are always black & white.

For the coming exhibition the rebel in me raised his wonderful head. I may not be allowed to sell items with the Pink Panther figure, but I will sure as hell feature him in an art (photo) exhibition.

Season's End

Still digging deep into the image archive, not much else to do really. Season's End images are kind of fun finding motifs for and shoot, this is an old one taken way back in 2006 in Eslöv, Sweden.

Nightfall

So, I got out of bed this morning and looked out the window. The view outside made me want to just go back and hide under the covers again.

Surprise, surprise! It's another grey and gloomy day! Actually there have been so little sunlight the last two months that even evergreens inside the apartment have begun checking out.

Luckily I can always dive into the image archives to find reminders of what sunlight actually look like. Here's a nightfall picture with part of the local skyline.

Uncooperative

Some of the most frustrating shoots for some reason are with children and animals, it's sometimes impossible to get them to cooperate.

"What camera? We see food!"

Annoyance

This is getting old! For the umpteenth time the last couple of weeks Nouw is "down for maintenance" which is code for "we have no clue what we're doing" and there is nothing temporary about it. Problem is that this is the platform chosen to be at the center of social media activities and everything also should be coordinated, ie when posting to the blogs posts are to be made at Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and more at the same time. If one leg fails the others will suffer as well. What really pisses me off is the virtually non-existing information from Nouw as to what is going on and why.

Collar

Today I finally got the much needed tripod collar for the super tele lens, it has been on back order from the distributor for over a month, and it is a damn expensive little piece of metal. A quick estimate would give a price per kilogram of approximately 9,000 Swedish kronor (SEK), that's more than 900 USD. In fact it's more than half the price of gold.

Anyone thinking camera peripherals are cheap may want to reconsider. Lenses aren't all that cheap either, mind you. For instance, the 500 millimeter G-lens for Alpha A-mount (which is what the camera I use have) would set you back a whopping 146,000 SEK or 15,000 USD.

But, what to do when you need the stuff?

Reed

It doesn't really inspire camera creativity with the current weather, all pictures come out gloomy, but I did take a walk down to the wild water preserve nearby my residence just to see what it looked like today. Not very inspiring and not a single bird in sight, not even the hares ventured out into the open fields, and all there was to shoot was some dry reed.

SciFi Nature

Nature is amazing with all it's forms, shapes and colors. Indian cress seed pods look like they're straight out of a scifi movie.

Canadian Connection

After a couple of days with nice weather we're back to that gloomy, grey crap so I'm back in the archives where I dug up a Canada goose enjoying the sun last spring.

Peek-a-boo

A little something for all you animal lovers out there, a gerbil couple from way back when...

Worn Down In Ruins

Hard at work selecting photos to be featured at my first ever solo exhibition this summer and editing them preparing for them to be sent to the printers. It is hard work, beginning to feel just as worn down as the church ruins at Björkvik, Sweden, I visited a couple of years ago.

Your input on the selection would be really helpful. What kind of images would you like to see if you were to visit the exhibition? Would it be Black & White, Macro, Concert, Nature, Childhood's End or maybe something else?

Please feel free to comment below.

Goat or pussy?

While waiting for spring to arrive I'm diving into the archives finding images from last years spring season being amused by the English names of some of the flowers. One that's giving me smiles is the pussy willow or as it's also called, goats willow.

Beat

What a day! Busy from early morning until late night with adding new items to the online stores and I have only just began. I'm totally beat, the plant at it's season's end may actually have more life in it than I do at the moment.

Don't miss out the opportunity to get some nice wall art, T-shirts or other novelty items that you can't get anywhere else.

Setting Sun

Been out again in the cold shooting the setting sun. I have found a new favorite spot, the tree in the foreground really make the sunsets stand out.

Global

Finally I managed to piece it together with one of the hand models while there was sunshine and blue skies, my take on "the whole world in his hand"...

Tortoise

One surefire sign that spring has arrived is the small tortoiseshell butterfly beginning to flutter around here and there. I can't wait for them to arrive, when they do I will be seen with the Alphas in shrubs all over the place.

No Pinkie stuff for you

My intention all along have been to make available as prints, apparel and other novelty items images with that pink kitten we all love, but to do so I need licensing or at the very least a property release from the copyright owners. Since the beginning of November I have been trying to obtain this from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) without even getting a response. I even looked up their chief legal officer at LinkedIn and contacted her regarding this matter just to be totally ignored. Sorry, guys and gals, but there will be no Pinkie stuff for you.

Bored

Getting somewhat bored with this winter crap now, I want spring!

Light play

One nice little added bonus of shooting concerts is that you get to play with lights and have the possibility to create photographic art at no extra cost or effort. This shot of the keyboard player of Wonderland have not been altered with filters or effects, it's just cropped.

Seizing the moment

One key element of photography is seizing the moment. Doing that, ie always having your camera at hand, you will get those unexpected shots that make everyone smile.

Working with models

Working with models can be really challenging, sometimes even getting them to show up for a shoot or respond to a message is an entire endeavour in itself. For more than two weeks now I have patiently awaited the right conditions, no clouds and shining sun, for a special shoot and today the sun and the blue skies were in place at last so I texted my two hand models who happen to live in the same neighborhood as me.

Now two hours have passed since they read the texts and no sign of life what so ever while the sun still was high enough in the sky to give a minimum of shadows. The end result? No photos shot and I may have to wait another couple of weeks for the right conditions again.

Footnote: This image have nothing to do with todays missed shoot...

Red Admiral

The whole day today got whacked by the inability to log in to the Nouw account, most of the day the server wasn't even accessible, rendering me unable to do anything since this is where the main blog is located and everything else follows the operations there.

To at least give you something today here's a red admiral butterfly spotted this summer in close proximity to the (coming) butterfly preserve close to my place of residence.

Lupine

Caught a glimpse of sunlight today, for about 10 minutes it broke through the clouds and reminded me that in just a couple of months there will be a plethora of lupines in all shades of blue, red and yellow and of course white to enjoy.

A study of Morgan

Don't ask what I take photos of, I shoot anything and everything. The summer of 2019 I attended a classic car and motorcycle meet in Nyköping, Sweden, with my camera where among many other nice vehicles I found this 3-wheeler Morgan.

I'm watching you!

Birds are fun. They're amusing, industrious, resourceful and have a lot of attitude like this little house sparrow that seem to be signaling that we humans better behave because he's watching us.

In Rock

Anything can become photographic art... Only you can rock me...

Peckish

There I was shooting some fruits for Getty's when I got a little peckish...

Amaranthe

Elize Ryd of Amaranthe live at Västerås Rockfest in Västerås, Sweden, in April 2018.

Fallow

Spring can't come soon enough, I want to go out with the camera and the big lenses to shoot more magnificent creatures like this fallow deer.

Islander

I may be living inland now, but I have the ocean and the islands from the archipelago where I grew up in my blood. Imagine having views like this and the salty aroma of the sea in your nose every day, how can you not be at peace then?
